How air freight is charged

Airlines charge on the chargeable weight: whichever is greater, the actual weight or the volumetric weight. Light but bulky cargo is charged on its size.

Volumetric weight is usually worked out as length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6,000. A 100 × 80 × 60 cm carton weighing 50 kg has a volumetric weight of 80 kg, so it is charged as 80 kg.

Compact, well-packed cargo keeps the chargeable weight down. If you are not sure, send us the dimensions and we will work it out for you, or use the CBM and volumetric weight calculator.

FAQ

Air freight: common questions

Can't find your answer? Call +65 6692 2999 or email [email protected].

How long does air freight from Singapore take?

It depends on the destination, the airline routing and whether the flight is direct. Tell us the origin, destination and ready date and we will give you the options and expected timing with your quote.

What do you need to quote for air freight?

The pickup and delivery points, the commodity, the number of pieces, the dimensions and weight of each piece, the ready date and the Incoterms if you know them. Let us know if the cargo is dangerous goods.

Can you ship batteries or chemicals by air?

Many can be shipped if they are packed, labelled and declared correctly under the airline dangerous goods rules. Send us the safety data sheet (SDS) through our dangerous goods check and we will confirm.

Do you handle air freight imports into Singapore?

Yes. We arrange import permits and customs clearance and deliver to your door, or hold the cargo in storage until you need it.

Got a shipment coming up?
